Luke's Birthday

I flew up to Utah this past weekend and was able to be there for Luke's 7th birthday. We went to the Lindon pool for some fun and then on to Mimi's for a delicious dinner. Happy birthday Luke. It was wonderful to be with you on your special day.

Happy birthday to me!

I've actually been looking forward to this particular birthday for some time now. First, I needed to be 61 1/2 for retirement. The district wouldn't let me retire mid year, so that made 62 the magic number. And second, at 62, I get the senior discount at the HB city beach. Instead of paying $150 for my parking pass, it's only going to be $50! I'm not sure it gets any better than that.
Todd, Amy and the kids fixed me a great dinner of tacos with strawberry shortcake for my birthday cake. All were very yummy. Then I got a phone call from Todd in DC, singing to me and later, Kathy and the kids called and did the same. All in all, a very special day. I think I'll stop at 62. It's a great age to be!

Carson turns 7

For Carson's birthday, he wanted to go to Aquarium of the Pacific. It turned out to be the weekend Mary was here, so Mary, Kris and I all went to help celebrate. It was lots of fun all being there together and watching the kids interact with the fish. For his birthday cake, he wanted chocolate...chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, chocolate sprinkles. That was a lot of chocolate, but he was a happy camper. Happy birthday, Carson.

The Other Todd's Birthday

What are the odds of naming your son Todd, and twenty-some years later, your daughter marrying a Todd?! My guess would be pretty small. But then, I never go with the odds! I have two Todds in my family. What's really strange is that their birthdays are only 3 days apart plus a few years. Today is Amy's Todd's birthday. He has been a wonderful addition to the family and I love him dearly. Happy birthday, Todd.

Happy Birthday Todd

Todd turned 35 today...and, as with Amy, I wonder where in the world the time has gone. This morning, as I wrote the date on the board, I commented about it, and the fact that it was Todd's birthday. The kids all wanted to call him and sing "Happy Birthday" to him, and so, of course, we did. After he was serenaded to by 30 kids and a teacher, his comment was, "I don't think I've ever been sung to by so many people!" The kids loved it and it was a fun way to start his special day. Happy birthday, sweetheart. I love you.

Happy Birthday Amy

Amy turned 33 today! I can't believe she could possibly be that old. My kids at school also wonder. "How can she be 33 when you are only 29?!" they ask. And my reply? It's a miracle!
Happy birthday, sweetheart.

"The Birthdays"

For as long as I can remember, we have always had a party in Twin Falls the weekend around July 26th. Grandma and Grandpa Busby's birthdays were then as well as my dads. After Grandpa died a few years ago, dad insisted on changing the name to a family reunion, but it still is "the birthdays" for most of us. This year, with dad's health issues, it was a bitter-sweet time. It was great to spend time with my family, but it was awfully hard to watch dad struggle so with his physical health. We did get some great pictures of dad with the four of us and also with his great-grandkids.

Happy Birthday Todd

It wasn't planned that way, but my two kids birthdays are two weeks apart. I just get done with Amy's and it's time for Todd's. He was born on a Monday after only 7 hours of labor. It was pretty easy, even without any drugs, but I was surprised by having to push for an hour. I thought they just popped right out.

One of my favorite memories of Todd is being in Washington DC and going to my cousins house for dinner. In the evening, all of these fire flies came out. Todd collected some in a jar and released then in our hotel room that night. We had such a great "light show". But the next morning, we found their little dead bodies all over the room. Where ever Todd goes, he brings fun and laughter. What an awesome man he is becoming. Happy birthday, Todd. I sure love you.

Happy Birthday Amy

I can't believe it was 32 years ago when this little "munchkin" was born. It was an easy pregnancy and an even easier delivery. Life with her was always fun. I especially enjoy my memories of our camping trips and vacations. No matter where we were, she always found something fun to do. Amy is also one of the sweetest, most caring people I know and she has been that way from birth. She was a joy to raise and it is wonderful to watch her raise her own family. I couldn't be prouder of who she has become. I love you, Amy. Happy Birthday.
