Monday's Memory

All this talk of graduation got me thinking about Todd and Amy's big day.  I came across a video of Amy's all night party when I digitized my VHS tapes and I found this gem while I was watching.

I know I've said this before, but  I wish you could insert a movie here because it was so much fun to watch Amy be a sumo wrestler...bouncing off the other guy...falling down and needing help to get back up...charging full speed ahead and miss her mark.  This expression was just as they were blowing her up and it says it all.  Such an Amy face!!

Road Trip

Dance Weekend

It's that time of year again...dance weekend in Provo...so up I went.  This was actually the first time I was able to attend in two years because of COVID and then my canceled flight  because of fires and such poor air quality that the planes couldn't land.

I had to rely on the girls to take pictures between dances...beggars can't be choosers!  Why is it that when they get in costumes and makeup all the "faces" come out?!

I can't believe how good they have gotten. I'm so proud of these two young ladies.  Yay Claire and Sophie.

Canada or Bust
Then it was off to Canada and and endowment session at the Cardston temple, the last of the original 13 temples that I needed to visit for my bucket list.  More about that later.
It's amazing to think that I got on the I15 in Corona and would stay on it all the way to the Canadian boarder.  My drive would take 11 hours or so, so I decided to break it up and stay the night in Helena, Montana.  Along the way I...
I stopped at the beautiful Idaho Falls temple.

Helena for the win!

The scenery between Helena and Great Falls is amazing.

Welcome to Canada

Snow covered mountains in the background

Just like I remember!

Hello Cardston temple!  I've looked forward to seeing you for a long time!

The next morning, I took a beautiful walk along the Lee Creek that ran through Cardston...

...and stumbled upon this cool bench on my way back to my hotel.

Speaking of hotels...Evidently the motel I stayed at was pretty sketchy!!

After stopping off at Todd's Aunt April's to pick up some home grown honey, I was heading off, back to Provo.  Big big, flat top is "Big Chief".

I stopped off at the Lewis and Clark Center to reconnect with two of my favorite people from US history.  I didn't realize that they traveled in this area, along the Missouri River.

I broke up my drive in Butte, where I woke up to cold and snow flurries...
...and got back to Provo in time for Sophie's choir concert.

Once back in Provo, I enjoyed...
walks along the Provo River

the beautiful snow capped mountains

gathering eggs, and helping Todd clip the Ladies wings!!

I found this on the wall at church!

Todd helped Claire build a catapult for one of her classes.

I was able to attend Luke's graduation from seminary and we had a mock high school graduation so I could get some pictures of him in his cap and gown.  (More about that latter in a different post.)

And just like that, it was time to pack up and head home, with a very full way back!!

End of the trip recap  This is actually on the road, not driving around town!!

total miles--2940.5
total driving time--46 hours, 26 minutes
average MPG 23.5

Happy Birthday Todd

Happy Birthday Todd...the best son-in-law ever.  He had the traditional birthday pancakes and his very own cherry cheesecake dessert (the rest of us had "normal birthday cake!).  Then, at the stake father and son's campout, Amy arranged for a birthday cake for all to share.  I think he felt very loved.

Carson's Mission Call

Carson received his mission call and waited until later that evening to open it so his friends could all join him.  He also facetimed live, so family and friends far away could also share in the moment.

I wish you could put a movie in this book.  The relief on Carson's face was priceless.  He was worried about going to some far away country where the food might be difficult for him to eat.  He's not an adventurous eater!  Nope...Tacoma Washington...English speaking.  He starts a home MTC on July 25 for a week, followed by two weeks at the MTC in Provo.  I couldn't be more proud of this kid.  He is so excited for this.

Happy Birthday Todd

Todd was traveling for his birthday, and then Kathy was gone, so we finally celebrated his day while I was up for a visit.  We went out for the largest pizza I had ever seen and then had strawberry short cake and presents.  Happy birthday sweetheart.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom

Amy and family came over for Mother's Day dinner.  It's always so much work for Todd, but he sis a great job.  Later, we took flowers to mom and got a four generation picture!

Fun Puzzle

It had been quite a while since I had completed a puzzle, so I got the card table out and went to work.  this one was kinda fun.

Happy Birthday Claire

Happy birthday to this wonderful young lady.

I can't believe she is 16!!
