Spring Break

This year, because of kids activities, our spring break trip consisted of two days, with an overnight stay at a hotel.  We met up in Carlsbad for an afternoon at the beach.

It was sunny, but not terrifically warm.  As it turned out, I got a pretty good sun burn!!  It felt wonderful having my toes in the sand and my face in the sun. The boys spent some time with their boogie boards, but the waves didn't cooperate.  Books were read, naps taken, people were watched, and I even tried my hand at paddleball.

There was a farmers market in Old Town, so we perused the wares and ended up having pizza and strawberry shortcake for dinner.  And Wyatt fell in love with the girl at the strawberry stand!!

The next morning we went to the flower fields, something I have always wanted to do.  It was amazing, all those beautiful flowers.  And lots of photo opps.  Not for the first time, I wish you could insert a movie into this blog...the kids were inventive and so funny. Our trip turned out to be short...but, oh so sweet.

Growing an Avocado Tree

Todd and Kathy are in the planning stages of building a green house.  And I am in the beginning stages of growing an avocado tree for them.  I started with four seeds and two have

sprouted a root.  I've tried this before, but have never been successful with the grafting process.  Keeping my fingers crossed that it works this time.

I Love These Puzzles

I've complete several of these puzzles.  They are always fun because of the whimsical nature of the picture.

Emma's Last Solo

Every year Emma's choir puts on a solo night and this was her last one.  She sang a song from Cinderella, and when she walked out in a blue ball gown, it was just magical.  She has never sounded better and I was so proud of her.  I'm really going to miss this when she's away at college next year.
