Go Ducks

Mark and Kris couldn't use their season tickets to the Duck's game, so Carson drove down and went with me.  He spent a good portion of it trying to explain what icing was.  The Duck's lost, but there was a pretty good fight where punches were thrown!!

Palm Springs

Our annual trip to Pam Springs during spring break was a little different this year.  We decided to try a new hotel with a bigger pool and extra things to do like basketball and a slide.

We didn't spend as much time at the hotel either.  That afternoon, we found a hike to a waterfall Amy wanted to try.  It was on an Indian reservation, so there was a closing time.  We had under two hours for the round trip.  It was hot.  The trail went up and down.  We had to cross a small stream a couple of times.  Did I mention it was hot?  Needless to say, I got over heated and over exerted and started to straggle behind.  Finally, a ranger came by and told us we needed to turn around.  Amy and Todd decided to keep going, but the rest of us went back.  I did much better because of the slower pace.  Todd and Amy made it to the falls...in a cave where you really couldn't see anything!  I'm glad I didn't kill myself for that one!

At the recommendation of the hotel consernge, we had dinner at a fun Mexican restaurant.  The dinners were OK, but the virgin strawberry margarita's were excellent!

We ended the very fun day with some tennis.  So much fun to watch Carson finally beat his dad!!

Happy Heavenly Birthday Mom

Mom would have been 99 today.  It was very sad not to have birthday pancakes or blowing out candles.  I did go visit her and take her some flowers.  Happy birthday mom.  I can't believe how much I miss you.

Monday's Memory--Flooring

Getting new flooring in the entire house this past little while has exposed what was underneath.  So many layers and so many memories.

When we first moved into the house in July, 1961, I believe this was the tile covering the entire floor.  No carpet, just tile.  Ugly brown tile.

I remember mom getting free carpet samples and sewing them together to make a carpet in one of the rooms.  It was a lot of work and I wish I could find a picture.

Sometime later, we retiled with a much prettier white tile.  But it didn't extend into the bedrooms, so we must have had carpet in those by then.

One on the wild and crazy things mom did was install blue and green shag carpet in the living room.  It must have been in the 70's, because that was "in" back then.  New flooring in the kitchen matched the color scheme.

I found these remnants attached to the tack strip while they were installing the new carpet!

LDS Prom

All three of Amy's high schoolers got to to to prom this year.  Just like Amy, many years ago, it was Emma's first date!  I'm not sure about Wyatt.  He spends a lot of time out with girls, but one is never sure if it's a date or just hanging out.  Anyway, all three looked wonderful.
