Crazy socks--Monday's Memory

When Todd was in high school, especially his senior year, he loved wearing the strangest, funniest socks he could find. One year, at Brian Head, he sported long johns, shorts, and socks as he skied the mountain. He even got his varsity volleyball team to wear "unusual" socks for all of their games. This picture doesn't do it justice, but you get the idea. Then, the other day, I came across this picture of Todd and Amy all dressed up for church, and noticed his socks. I guess his love of crazy socks started at a very early age!

Todd and I got to spend some fun time this past weekend making container boxes for their garden.

Todd's Mother's Day Present

Several weeks ago, Kathy posted this picture of Todd on Facebook, saying she and Todd were having a date night and that she thought he was "hot in an apron." I found out this past weekend that what Todd was making was this candy dish for me for Mother's Day. I LOVE IT!

Happy Birthday Todd

Todd turned 35 today...and, as with Amy, I wonder where in the world the time has gone. This morning, as I wrote the date on the board, I commented about it, and the fact that it was Todd's birthday. The kids all wanted to call him and sing "Happy Birthday" to him, and so, of course, we did. After he was serenaded to by 30 kids and a teacher, his comment was, "I don't think I've ever been sung to by so many people!" The kids loved it and it was a fun way to start his special day. Happy birthday, sweetheart. I love you.

Monday's Memory

Mission Layover

Todd called today from LAX on a layover from Salt Lake to Hawaii. It reminded me of his layover here on his way to Brazil. I know, it made no sense, a layover in LA when he was going from Salt Lake to Brazil. But Todd had been gone for two months, so I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. He actually was in the airport for two or three hours, and there weren't the security policies that there are now, so we all took the day off of school and to LAX we went. It was awesome. He looked so good, and very happy. He was there with several others all headed to Brazil, so we were able to meet some of his companions. The only down side was that we had to say good-bye all over again.

Washington DC and Todd

Washington DC has always been a special city for me. I love the history that it represents and the patriotism I feel when I visit there. Because Todd has been working there for a while and I didn't get to see him on my Utah trip this summer, I felt a great "pull" to go visit both DC and him. Let me just say two words: awe--some. What a great adventure we had. Highlights for me were a semiprivate tour of the Capital, new stamps in my passport, Mary Poppins, my iPhone tutorial, the firefly walk, and great food. But the best thing of all was my one on one time with Todd. I loved having him all to myself. He has grown into a most amazing man, not my little boy any more, and I am so proud of him. I love you Todd. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
