Senior Awards Night

I'm so proud of these two and all that they have accomplished during their high school years.  Tonight they were honored with their fellow graduates.  The evening started out with Emma singing the Nation anthem.  That's not an easy song to sing and she did a great job.  Afterwards, the principal said that she was really going to be missed next year.  He was happy to hear her one last time!!

Easter Breakfast

The usual crew met and the park for our annual Easter Breakfast.  The food was delicious and the company was fun. The only problem was parking!  The city had some big festival--food booths, games, and even mounted police!  The kids kept sneaking off and coming back with all kinds of prizes and snacks!!

Amy's Half-marathon

Yes, you read that right.  Several months ago Amy decided to enter a half-marathon...that's 13.1 miles!!  Todd and Emma decided to join her.  They trained (mostly Amy) for months and found a race that didn't run on a Sunday in St George.  I went up with them as their cheering section.  As it turned out, Emma got sick and couldn't participate, so she and Owen joined the cheering section. I dropped Amy and Todd off at the starting line early Saturday morning, went back to the hotel to pick up Emma and Owen, and then found several placed we could see them and cheer them on.  Amy ran most of the first three quarters of the race, surprising herself.  Todd walked the entire way.  It was extra wonderful to meet them at the finish line.  I am so proud of both of them.  They are proof that when you commit, you can do hard things.

Wyatt's Mission Call

It seems like Wyatt went from "I'm not sure if I want to go to school and play volleyball" to "I want to go on a mission" in about two weeks.  One day he's not sure, and the next day he had his mission papers in and it's a waiting game.  And then two weeks later, we are gathering to hear where and when he is going.  I know it really wasn't that fast, but it sure seemed like it to me!

Lots of friends, teammates, and ward family gathered to support Wyatt.  It was wonderful to see.  Drum roll please...Mexico Torreon Mission...entering the home MTC on Monday August 26th for a week and then on down to the Mexico MTC for the rest of his training.  This is my fourth grandkid missionary and I don't think it gets any easier!!

Volleyball Senior Night

Wyatt's last home game...senior night, where the seniors are recognized.  Amy went all out with balloons, posters, and cutout faces.  I think Wyatt loved it!!

Monday's Memory--Hoff's Hut

Lori Stricklin and I went to Hof's Hut for dinner the other day and it brought back so many memories.  This is the place we used to go to after football games, and I always ordered franks and beans.
This is what the inside of the restaurant looked like.

It was a hot dog cut lengthwise and fried, served with a pot of baked beans.  I cut the hotdog into pieces and dipped them into the beans.  SOOOO GOOD!  I remember coming home from Greeley where I was going to school and going to get my franks and beans.  Sadly, years later, the Hoff's Hut closed and now there is a sushi place there instead.
A new Hof's Hut has opened up in Seal Beach.  Sadly, no franks and beans on the menu.  But they did have some old pictures on the walls, including an old menu.
