Baby It's Cold Outside
Amy had a craft night for some friends that I "crashed". It was so fun, talking with the women and making a very cute board for January.
It is perfect on the top of my hutch!

Retired Lunch Bunch
This luncheon group started probably 8 years ago, when 3 people retired. They met for lunch on our first day back to school in September to celebrate not having to be there! The nerve!! As the years went by, the group has slowly grown, as more and more of us retired. I joined the group 5 years ago, and it's lovely to get together every month to reminisce and check up on each others lives. These people have been my friends for over 25 years and we have truly become like family. In the beginning, we talked about our kids, the joys and heartaches of raising a family. We have helped each other through divorce, health issues, marriages, births and even the death of a child. It's funny because now our discussions center around our grandkids, and complaints of aches and pains. It's not fun getting old, but it eases the process when you have so many friends to share it with.

Carson's Biome Report
Carson had a BIG report due this Friday, and put it off until too late to finish. My, that sounds familiar, Uncle Todd!
So, he spent the day at grandma's working on it. I have to say, he was great. He researched, typed, and drew all day, with only a short lunch break. Of course, we had to go out to i Hop for lunch, but we made it quick. When it was time for him to color his drawings, I drug out these...the very same colored pencils that his mom used at his age!

I love her pencil box with her name, grade, room number, and even teacher's name on it...besides all of her funny, little drawings.
Carson's report got turned in on time and we are waiting to get his grade!

Happy New Year
Mom and I went out to Amy's to celebrate the new year. We had the usual chips, dips, and chocolate. It was delicious, and oh, so much fun. After our feast, we played a few new games, and ended the evening with a really cute movie. All in all, a beautiful day.
As we were getting ready to leave, mom said she was thirsty and decided to "chug" some sparkling cider. Pretty funny!
New Year's Goals
I love new beginnings...the beginning of a new day, when it's always possible to make it better than the day before. The beginning of the week...partaking of the sacrament, examining the week just passed, and finding those things that I did well and those things that I need to improve on. The beginning of a new year...looking back at how I did on my goals from last year, recommitting, and finding ways to become more Christ like.
My spiritual goal from last year was to study the Book of Mormon by watching the discussions on BYUTV. I got to the beginning of Mosiah, reading, watching, and taking notes. It was an amazing experience. Then, mid year, life happened, and my scripture study went out the window. I'm so sorry that I let other things push out my studying, so, this year, I'm going to finish what I started last year.
I failed miserably at my physical goal of getting to my goal weight. In fact, I weigh more now than I did then! So, I'm tackling something different. At first, this was going to be my goal...
And finally, a resounding success in my social goal. I used social media to keep connected to friends, both old and new. Birthday wishes were sent and comments and likes were given. I intend to continue this, but expand the idea. I'm going to call, text, facetime my family more. That includes my brothers, and their wives, Todd, Kathy and the kids, and Amy, Todd, and the kids.
Here's to an uplifting 2016
