Beach Fun

Friday,we all trooped down to the beach for some sun and fun. Well, at least we had some fun. The sun finally cooperated and came out at about 3:00. But I always say that a bad day at the beach is better than any day somewhere else! The kids had a great time playing in the surf on the boogie boards and catching lots of sand crabs. The Todds even braved the cold water to catch some waves. When it got a little windy and cold at the water, we warmed up by the fire and had a cook out. That's when the sun came out and it warmed up nicely. All in all, a wonderful day at the beach.

Sailing

For my birthday, Todd, Kathy, Todd, and Amy gave me a two hour sailing lesson. We finally made it this last Saturday. Todd, Amy, Ann, and I drove to Redondo Beach to have this great experience. It was AWESOME!!! It really was a lesson, with our "skipper" teaching us all about how a sailboat works, the names for all of the sails, and how to make the boat go where you want it to go. We all got to spend time at the rudder and let me tell you, it's not as easy as it looks. It was an absolutely wonderful birthday present combining two of my favorite things...sun and surf. Thanks kids for a great time.

Good bye to Summer

Amy's last day of summer vacation was Tuesday and she wanted to spend it at the beach. This made me smile because I remember all of the times Amy, Todd, and I spent our last day of vacation there. It usually was Labor Day, and we usually wondered if it would be too crowed. But, we always managed to find a spot and spent our last few hours of freedom relaxing in the sun and surf.
