I don't know if I mentioned before that I have a torn meniscus on my right knee. The surgeon said that surgery wasn't a good option and that I needed to strengthen my legs to take some to the pressure off of my knee. This was maybe 2 1/2 years ago. I stared physical therapy. From there, I started going to the gym. At the same time, I figured that my knee would have less pressure if I could lose some weight, so I started Zepbound, a weight loss shot. My first shot was the middle of March, 2025. I weighed 225 and had a BMI of 34.2. I couldn't walk a mile with out pain. I was taking a pill for cholesterol, I had several sleep apnea episodes, and I was wearing a size 16. I wish I had taken pictures...The only thing I have is a picture from our Easter breakfast around the same time, I took the smallest dose for one month, 2.5, and then moved up to 5.0 for the rest of the time.
My insurance refused to cover my shot after the first of the year. After a couple of months appealing and gaining 12 pounds back, I decided to buy my shot direct from Lily, the pharmaceutical company, costing $300 for the low dose. My weight went back down slowly, and then Medicare decided to offer the shot. Now, I'm back down to 175 and have maintained for over a month. This was my reward!!
I'm happy with my weight. With my overall health. I'm not "skinny" by any means, but I'm healthy...and that's what counts.
