Weekend Get-a-way

Mel came to visit mom for a few days and gave me the time off to get away.  I decided to explore Santa Barbara and points north.

Santa Barbara
The pillow on my bed in the hotel...
...ain't it the truth!!!

I spent a lot of time walking...my morning walk, a stroll down Stern Wharf, window shopping, scouting out places to eat.  In total, 17, 702 steps logged today!!

Evidently, they didn't get the memo about being "politically correct".
Sambos was a jumpin' place all morning!

Joe's won out for a late lunch/early dinner.
At lease we get a warning!!

In the afternoon, I took a harbor cruise on this boat.  It was informative and very relaxing.  I love being on the water!

I also went looking for the "psych" headquarters for Amy's kids.  Nope!
It's not even filmed in Santa Barbara!

Solvang
Unlike Santa Barbara, I spent my day not walking but eating my way through Solvang!  I only had 7517 steps today.
My first, and looking back, probably best stop of the day was Mortensen's Bakery.  The best cream puff ever!!!

And I was so excited to see The Red Viking Restaurant still alive and well.  I remember eating there with the kids so many years ago.  They even still had the same red place mat!!  I'll admit, the food wasn't the best, but oh the memories!

Spent some time in the Hans Christian Anderson museum and found these two statues around town.

I also took a horse drawn trolley tour.

 And there was everything viking!!!

Train ride up the coast
I decided a perfect Sabbath activity was to take a relaxing, beautiful train ride up the coast.  And it was both relaxing and beautiful.  It didn't disappoint. ALL ABOARD!!!
