Puppies!!

I think I mentioned in my San Diego post that Amy missed a good portion of Sea World because she went back to home to get Lucy insiminated.  Well, it worked.  The puppies were due Wednesday, but I called after church to get an update and see if anything was happening yet.  It was reported that she was pacing, couldn't get comfortable and doing a lot of panting.  I had never seen puppies being born, so off I went.

I was there an hour when it all started.  Wow!!  Quite an experience.  Todd was still at meetings, so Amy had to help.  I really reminded me of the line from Gone with the Wind, "I don't know nothing about birthin' babies".  Lucy was kinds clueless, so Amy opened the sack, cut the cord, and rubbed the little one dry. Finally, she moved and mewed and Amy let out a huge sigh of relief.

Todd was home for the second one, and Lucy was much for active with the process.  She had a puppy every 40-50 minutes...seven of them...one huge boy and six smaller girls.  Going on 11, I decided it was all over and headed on home.  Soon after I got home, I got a text from Amy...puppy number eight just arrived!!  also an girl.

They have named them all names that start with J since Wyatt was insistent on naming the boy Jamal. We have Jade, Jasmine, Jane, Jackie, Jezebel, Josephine, and   Anyone know of someone wanting a puppy?

And 10 days later.  They have all at least doubled their weight!!

A Wonderful Surprise

Some neighbors from around the corned came to to door and asked if I would like these flowers!  It seemed, she worked a wedding the day before, and these were left over.  Fragrant, beautiful, and WOW!!

Berlin Marathon

Words can't express how in awe I am of this lady.  She knows how to do hard things.  She knows how to make goals and achieve them.  She knows how to live life to the fullest.  And I am so proud of her.

I am also so proud of Todd.  He got up at 2:30AM to follow the race and send her encouraging texts the entire time...26.2  miles.  Now, that is what love looks like.

Les Mis

Through a series on unfortunate events, I came out on top, and got to g

o see one of my favorite shows with Kris.  Yep, I cried so many times.  It is just beautiful and it was performed perfectly.  Thank you Kris for thinking of me.

Happy Birthday Kathy

Kathy celebrated her birthday in Berlin, Germany getting ready to run the Berlin Marathon.  Because of the time difference, I only texted her a happy birthday message, but from her posts, it looked like she had a well celebrated day.

The Sunday before, the family celebrated with a cake.

Baking Class--Profiteroles

More commonly known as cream puffs.  I have been wanting to learn how to make these for years.  Sur le Table finally had a class, and I was so excited.

They were just OK, but I learned the process, so it was a good class. A week or so later, I made them at Amy's house for dessert and they turned out wonderful...much better than the class.  How I wish I had taken pictures of those babies!!

Monday's Memories--Labor Day

For as long as I can remember, we always spent Labor Day at the beach.  It was the last day of summer vacation.  I started school the next day.  The kids followed in a few days.  It was out last hurrah.  As Amy became a teacher, she continued the tradition, even though the school year calendar changed over the years and now she usually starts early August.  We still find ourselves enjoying "one last chance" of summer.
