Hiking the Narrows

I think every person in Utah decided to go to Zion the same day as us!!  For the first time, we actually had to park 2 1/2 miles outside of the park and take a shuttle in.  The good news was that because we all walked in, my senior pass got us all in for free.  The bad news was that we needed masks to ride the park shuttle and they were all 2 1/2 miles away in our cars!!  $40.00 later, we ready to board the shuttle and ride to where the narrows started.

It was so crowded!  People everywhere!!  But, the water was cool on a very warm day.

A little ways in, I realized I was holding everyone else up, so I walked back a little way, where there was shade and rocks to sit on.  The rest went off and came back later.  I love to people watch, so this was great for me.  Todd and Owen helped be back to the start of off we went, back to the shuttle, to catch the shuttle, for find our cars.

Dinner at Red Robin tasted particularly good, especially all of the great drinks!!

St George Vacation

This was the year for our biennial vacation the all my family.  We have had some great trips, including a Disney Cruise, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and Cancun.  This year, however, because of COVID and the uncertainty of safety, we decided to make our trip local and low key.  St George seemed like a good place...driving distance for both families and lots of fun, outdoor activities.

Todd had a couple of work calls, the first at 11:00, so we left early and was in St George by 10:30.  Todd worked while the rest of of played at the rec center.

Later that afternoon, we met the Johnson's at our VERBO home for the weekend.  It was lovely with lots of room for all.  After dinner out, we went to Tauchan to see the musical Annie.  It was surprising how warm it was at 11:00PM when sweat kept dripping down my back!  But the show was so worth it.  Great talent and really fun music.  And it ended with a bang when fireworks went off.  And the hillside caught fire!!  No worries!  They got it put put pretty quickly!

5,500 Miles!!

I just earned this badge from fitbit!  Since 2014, when I bought my first fitbit and started keeping track of my walking, I have walked the equivalent of the Great Wall of China!  I'm impressed with my walking...but I'm even more impressed with the length of the Great Wall!  Who Knew?!

A new Home for Mom

Yesterday was one of the hardest days of my life. Mom’s walking had deteriorated so much that it wasn’t safe for her to stay at home with me any more. We had to take her to an assisted living situation. It’s a lovely home with four other ladies. Very caring and lots of wonderful help for her. Many prayers were answered. She knew what was happening and more importantly, why. She even consoled me when I cried. For an afternoon, I had my mom back. What a blessing. I went back last night and watched part of the Laker game with her. Go Lakers!! #lifelonglakerfan #somanyprayers #somanyanswers

Happy Birthday Todd

The timing of Todd's trip allowed him to not only be here for Mother's Day (thank you Kathy), but also his birthday.  We went to Amy's the night before to celebrate Mother's Day and both Todd's birthdays.  And there was time before his flight for some birthday pancakes.

The entire family picked him up for the airport, so they went to dinner and had another birthday celebration!

To quote Kathy's Instagram, "Happy birthday to the love of my life.  He loves fish and building stuff and the lawn and he tells amazing dad jokes!"
