Happy Birthday Mom

Mom turned 97 today!!  She keeps saying that she's getting old,and I keep telling her that she has already arrived!!  Because of the Coronavirus, we had to cancel her family party yesterday.  So, today was pretty quiet.  Of course, she had birthday pancakes to start her day and pizza and banana cream pie for dinner.  And all through the day she had phone calls and facetimes from family to help her celebrate.  My favorite was Amy and family.  They had a half eaten pie with candles on facetime.  They all sang and had mom blow out her candles on the screen while they blew them out in real life.  It was so cute and so thoughtful.

A week later, Amy had some groceries delivered for mom...All of her favorites!!  She knows her grandma well!

And Wyatt Makes 4!!

After many years and  countless merit badges, Wyatt joined the other three boys, Tayson, Carson, and Luke, in the eagles nest as the family's newest and last eagle scout.  The Church decided to stop supporting BSA after the first of the year, so Wyatt felt a time crunch to get everything completed by the deadline. Becoming an eagle scout at 13 is quite an achievement.  Tonight he celebrated with family and friends.  Congrats Wyatt.  I'm so proud of you.

In my opinion, the best part of the evening, except, of course, Wyatt getting his badge, was when Scoutmaster Fletcher stood on a chair to put Wyatt's eagle neckerchief around his neck!!  Pretty funny!!

Todd's Surgery

Todd has been having trouble with his thyroid for a couple of years.  Lots of growths and nodules.  After a couple of doctors opinions, he decided to have it removed.  After surgery, the doctor said he had never seen so many nodules!!  Good news, they were all benign.  We now have matching scars!!

Utah Weekend

My quick trip to Utah was jam-packed with fun!  Friday night we got to watch Tayson play in his basketball league...Saturday afternoon we got to play baker by decorating cupcakes and a fun birthday cake for Hazel, who turned one...

Saturday night we went up to Salt Lake for a fantastic production of Fiddler on the Roof...

...and Sunday, Claire received her YW Medallion.

I couldn't be more proud of her. The YW's program was designed for the girls to have four years to complete the activities and projects.  However, with the church changing the youth program, Claire decided that she wanted to get her medallion before the end of the year.  And she did it!!
The projects were at lease ten hours long and in all of the YW values:
**research family history with Grandpa Schultz and then do the temple baptisms
**get some of her favorite recipes from aunts and grandmas and create a cookbook
**join the school choir
**train and run in a 5K
**perform in her dance concert
**plant and tend her neighbor's garden
**created a colored pencil piece of art --the iron rod
**read the Book of Mormon
