Happy Birthday Todd M

Todd started his day with the traditional birthday pancakes and a facetime call from grandma and me. This year, he was already on his way to work, so he was serenaded in his car!

Since it was a Friday, he and Amy went out on a date and we finished the celebration on Saturday. His dinner choice was plate enchiladas, a Mortensen family favorite, and then it was presents and cake time.

Todd Turns the Big 40!!!

Well, almost.  The reason Amy and I went up to Utah was to help Todd celebrate his birthday and be there for his party.

Ballroom Dancer...Tayson!

I love dance of all types.  One of my favorite TV shows is Dancing with the Stars.  Who would have thought that while I was in Utah, I would go see Tayson Tango!  He has had ballroom dancing in school for the last two years, and this year he made the junior high dance team.  This afternoon, his team was invited to participate with the high school in a performance. I'm glad I was here because I think this might be his last dance performance as he is not continuing into high school. It was so fun to watch him up on stage.

"Just Keep Swimming...Just Keep Swimming..."

No, it's not Dory and Nemo...it's Tayson and Luke.  These two are awesome.  They swim after school every day for a couple of hours, and in the summer, they are at the pool early, I mean REALLY early in the mornings!  All for these swim meets.  I've been lucky enough to go to a couple now, and I really enjoy watching them.  It was easy to tell them apart, Tayson wore a cap and Luke didn't~

They have gotten really good at diving ...

They both swam the 50 and 200 free style

In an entire meet of 4-5 hours, they actually were only in the water for about 5-6 minutes!

Happy Birthday Claire

Amy and I flew up to Utah for Todd's 40th birthday party, so we were there for Claire's birthday as well.  We had an early flight out and on our way to the airport I wanted to facetime Claire, but it was too early and I was afraid no one would be up yet.  The next time I thought of it, it was too late and she would have already been at school.  Oh well, it was a fun thought and I tried.  But, I was there to sing to her IN PERSON!  How fun was that.  I missed her birthday pancakes...

...but was there for a delicious dinner at Chili's and to see her open her presents afterwards. We had a fun time trying to guess what was in each box.  I swear that it was a basketball in that flat, shirt box...wrong!!! Happy birthday, Claire Bear.
