Monday's Memory--Bath Time

When going through Todd's photo album, I came across this picture of him taking a bath in the kitchen sink when we were living on Navajo.  He was 11 months old.  The fun part about this picture is not only his chubby cheeks and his beautiful blond hair, but we still have that blue dolphin.  Amy and Todd played with it throughout their childhood, and so have all of my grandkids.

Owen really loves his bath, usually not with bubbles.  He will spend quite a long time, playing with the toys.  At my house he has "traditional" toys like Little People and Nemo, but at his house, his favorites are all of his dinosaurs.  And by all, I mean all...a bathtub full of triceratops and t-rexes.

Carson's Birthday Weekend!!!

Most people have only one day to celebrate a birthday, but this year, Carson stretched it out to a full weekend!
On Friday, his actual birthday, I just had to start his day with a Facetime call, even though I knew I was going to see him in a couple of hours at the water park.  We got interrupted by a call from grandpa Ted and birthday pancakes.

That afternoon, we met at Splash Kingdom, a very fun waterpark...(more pictures to follow on next post)

On Saturday, he had a water themed birthday party for some of his friends...

...and on Sunday, we had his birthday dinner at my house...

 I've never seen him as excited as when he opened his Lego game.

 and per his request...a yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

Endeavour Space Shuttle

In September 2012, the space shuttle, Endeavour flew over Long Beach, on it's way to LAX.  This was it's last flight, as the space shuttle program was being done away with, and it was going to be permanently housed in LA, at the science museum.  I drove to Long Beach and spent a couple of hours on the beach, waiting to see the shuttle.  And when I did, I cried.  It was an amazing sight, seeing that craft that had been in outer-space so many times being piggybacked to retirement.

Today, I joined Amy and the kids for an outing to the science museum.  And the highlight, for me, was seeing this same space shuttle up close and personal.  I was in awe of it history and size...and once again, I cried!

Joseph

I LOVE Joseph and the Amazing Coat, or whatever the real name is.  I listen to it all the time in my car, singing at the top of my lungs.  I think the music is amazing, and the lyrics are hysterical.  My favorite lines---"we've read the book and you come out on top", "the dreams you had in your pajamas are a long range forecast for your farmers", "he's also rather dim, you see, we are eleven and there's only one of him".  I could go on and on.
Well, Joseph came to the Pantages, so Amy, Todd and I went.  We decided to make it an adventure, so we met Todd in Long Beach at the metro and took it into LA.  The Hollywood and Vine station is directly across the street from the theater, so it couldn't be handier!  After a quick walk to Chipotle for dinner, we were in our seats in plenty of time to enjoy the show.  And I must say, I've seen Joseph several times, and I think this is the best I've seen so far.  It was fantastic.

Old Friends

Milo and Tom Armstrong's friendship goes back many, many years.  They were in high school together, having all sorts of adventures.  They went to lots of church dances in Tom's VW, and he was telling us just the other day about a time when they tried to sneak into the highway 39 drive-in, only to be deterred by a policeman!

And this is almost 50 years later, at mom's 90th birthday party.  A few pounds heavier and much less hair, but still able to reminisce about the "good 'ol days"
