The other day, I received a text from Todd with this picture...no message, just this picture. And it sure made me smile. And it sure brought back some fun memories. When the kids were younger, we went to Disneyland several times and always managed to stay and see the Electrical Parade. Everything and everyone in the parade was covered with miniature lights, going down Main Street. There was always Mickey and Minny on the big drum, but also dancers with flowing skirts, and the seven dwarfs with their picks...and all of them with hundreds of tiny lights on their costumes. It was amazing. The kids eyes twinkles along with the lights. It was always one of my favorite things at Disneyland. (We even had a 45 record of the music from the parade!) After many years, they moved the parade from Disneyland to Disney World, where Todd and Kathy saw it this past weekend...lucky them.

Bike Ride
Today was a gorgeous day, so I took advantage of it and went for a bike ride at the beach. The air was warm-short sleeve shirt and no jacket, the sky was clear-Catalina seemed very close, and the crowds were nonexistent. All in all, a perfect day.

Monday's Memory--Hi-way 39 Drive-in
I can't believe I saw this on facebook the other day! What memories were made at this place. When I was a kid, this was the place to go on a weekend. My mom had a rule of no drive-ins on a date, so of course, I never went there with a boy, at least not until I was married. But I sure frequented it with my girl friends. One particular time, I spent the day at the beach with all of my friends, working on our tans. Then, that night we all piled into a car and went to the movies. The problem was that I got more than a little burned at the beach, so I was very uncomfortable at the movie. I don't know if I learned a lesson that night or not, but I remember being in a lot of pain!
The other memory that came to me was taking Todd and Amy to the same drive-in. We would pop some popcorn, get their pj's on, and away we went. We always got there early enough for them to go to the playground for a few minutes before the movie started. Then we would climb in the back of our station wagon, get our treats, and watch the movie, cartoons and all.
I'm happy to say that Amy has found a drive-in near her home, and her family has been able to pass the tradition along.
PS--This site is now a Walmart...sad but true.

Chuck E Cheese
Today was a student free day for Amy, so I went out to babysit the "big"
kids while Owen went to the sitters. For lunch, as a treat, we decided
to go to Chuck E Cheese. The pizza isn't the best, but the kids had a
great time playing the games.

Monday's Memory--Snow
Todd and Kathy have had a very cold winter so far. It snowed on Christmas Day and it is still on the ground! Usually, snow only lasts a day or so before it melts away, but the temperatures have not been above freezing in a couple of weeks! Burrrrr! (I get cold just thinking about it.) Anyway, my memory...One time in while we were at Brian Head, it snowed. I mean, it snowed a lot...had to shut down the lifts a lot. But the kids had a great time playing in all that white stuff. This is Todd having a snowball fight...I think he was losing!

Todd's brick
This brick came home with Todd from his mission. He explained that is was pretty cool because all of the buildings in Brazil were made from them and you couldn't find them here. So, for 16 years, it has been in the top of his closet. As he was going through some old scout and mission stuff this past week, he said to throw it away! Evidently, it's not so unique...he's seen the same type of brick here!
