Monday's Memory--Amy's Turkey

 Amy made this turkey when she was in second grade and a Brownie Scout.  It was made of a pinecone, for the body, a seed pod for the head, and chenille pipe cleaners for the tail.  It held the place of honor for many years, but as it became more bedraggled, it ended staying in the Thanksgiving box.  Somehow, I just couldn't throw it away...until this year!  A picture taken, a post in my journal, and out it went.

Utah Road Trip

 I love road trips in the fall...the weather is perfect and school is in session, so the crowds are less.  This year, my road trip to Provo started in Las Vegas and the Donny Show.  I had seen Donny and Marie several years ago, and this one was different, but oh so good.  My seat was really close to the stage, so I got some great views while he was performing.

The next morning, I stopped in St George to attend the temple open house.  It's been closed for a couple of years, so they are going to rededicate it soon.

I also found the "famous" Farmstead Bakery.  Oh my, everything was so delicious.  I'll definitely need to add that stop more often.

Another reason I love Utah in the fall is the crisp mornings for my walk and the amazing colors of the tree.  I was not disappointed this year.

Watching the chicken free ranging is always interesting...and I love to collect the eggs.  A couple dozen joined me on my trip home!!

Todd is getting into cooking and baking.  I love watching him excited about a new hobby.  He actually inspired me to add learn how to make pies to my new bucket list.

Headless Horseman

 A couple of years ago, we had so much fun at Riley's Farm performance of A Christmas Carol, we decided to try their production of The Headless Horseman.  It was just as wonderful.

The food was great, eating different courses between the different acts of the play.  It was especially fun this year because the kids knew a couple of the actors/servers.

After the dinner and play, we experienced all kinds of fun Halloween activities.

Wyatt and his girlfriend, Claire, carved our family pumpkin, and did a great job.

Emma, Owen, and Todd entered the seed spitting contest.  Yeh...Todd won!!!

Owen and Todd bobbed for apples...

...but the most fun was probably the dancing.

Sorry there is no picture of Owen and his partner, but the people in front of them got mixed up and stood right in front of them the whole time!!

Such a fun evening.

Rialto Multi Cultural Night

 Todd and Amy's stake had a multicultural night with booths displaying various cultures and food representing those cultures.  In the evening, they put on quite a show. Amy and Emma performed in two dances and I was so proud, happy, joyful, I wrote about it in my "Joy Journal".

"Amy and Emma performed in their stake multicultural night.  They did a dance from Ghana and a hula.  And they were fantastic.  There was Amy, on stage, hair in a bun, stage makeup on, and a smile on her face.  She looked like she was home.  All those years of ballet performances came flooding back and tears came.  so happy...so much joy to be there again.  And Emma was so beautiful, so poised.  How I wish she hadn't given up dance all those years ago."

 

San Joaquin Retired Friends

 It all started when my friend, Jane Calister retired (maybe 15 years ago) and decided to have lunch with three other retired teacher...on the first day of school...to rub it into our noses that they could go out to lunch while we "slaved away" at school.  What started as a group of four turned onto sometimes 15-18 people, as more and more retired.  It all depends on our traveling schedule...and grandkids babysitting obligations.  It is always so fun to meet together and get caught up in each others lives.  During these last 15 years we have had marriages, deaths of spouses, new grand babies, and lots and lots of travel photos.  I love these people.  Today, we had 17 join us for lunch, some I had not seen in years.  So much fun!!
