Upholstered Chair

Yes, I guess I am one of those people who sees something along the curb in front of someone's house and goes back to get it!!  On my walk, a few months ago, I saw this chair and thought it might be perfect for my bedroom.

I've been looking for a long time, but it's such a small space, everything was just too big.  This one fit's perfectly.  I finally found some material that worked with the rest of the room, and Lori Stricklin helped me recover it.  It's perfect!!!

San Diego Family Vacation

Because of the uncertainty of a family full of teenagers and young adults, not to mention Todd's shoulder surgery, it was decided to make our vacation low key and one people could come and go as needed.  San Diego it was!

Tues--Old Town--The Mormon Battalion was a hit.  And dinner at out favorite Mexican restaurant with homemade tortillas was a perfect was to kick off this vacation.  Sad to say, we got there kinda late, so no time to look around or get the delicious root beer.

Wednesday--La Jolla--Most days, my Todd worked from home for the morning, and then joined in the fun after lunch.  This morning, it was just as well since we kayaked the La Jolla sea caves and that would have been impossible for him with his shoulder.  It was so much fun. The best moment might have been when Tayson jumped out of skin when "big daddy" quietly swam near our kayak and barked at us.  Or it might have been the sight of me trying to get out of my kayak at the end when we washed up to shore.  I felt like a beached whale.  And probably looked as graceful!!

The most dramatic moment goes to Amy when a seagull swooped down and took her entire sandwich from her hands and flew off with it, scratching her cheek in the process.  By the end of the day it was a giant bald eagle with razor sharp talons as she narrowly escaped with her life!!

The rest of the day was spent playing in the water (I actually got in!), surfing, reading, lying in the sun, playing volleyball, and Claire eating with her head covered so another bird doesn't attack.  How I wish I had a picture of that!!

Thursday--Sea World--Great shows and thrilling rides.  My favorite was the Clyde and Semore show.  As always.  I miss the days when the trainers got in the water with the dolphins and Shamu and swam with them.  It was so peaceful and beautiful to watch, making me wish I could be them.  Now, it's an educational show.  I understand the change, but I still miss the good 'ol days.

Friday--Pacific Beach--or PB as the locals call it!  But first, in the morning, the boys went golfing.

Amy went on a hike...

Todd worked...

The girls played pool...

Kathy went to SNA to pick up Sophie...

And I hiked the local hill.

After lunch, it was off to the beach.  Parking has been horrendous this entire trip, and today was no different, having to drop our stuff off and then someone (the two Todd's) driving to find a spot and then hike in.  Another beautiful day.  Lot's of sun and fun.  And a family photo shoot!

Saturday--Mission Beach--
Our last beach day.  The weather was beautiful.  The water was warm.

In the afternoon, we went to an amusement park/food court/shopping plaza called Belmont Park.

Amy and Emma went on a tandem bike ride.  Amy said it was really scarry to ride in the back with Emma in charge.  Evidently, she did a lot of screaming.  When Emma got back, she realized she lost her ear pods somewhere on the ride.  Sweet Todd took Emma on a LONG walk back and eventually found them!

Sunday--Church and some misc. pictures and thoughts.
The house was perfect, except for the hills to get there.  But because we were up so high, we had amazing views.
Lots of room for everyone to find their own space.

Kathy is in training for the Berlin Marathon, so she had to follow her training plan.  Several days she went to a gym, but one day, for an easier run, Todd fixed the nonworking treadmill with an apple watch charger and some Saran Wrap.  He's a pretty smart guy!!
We ended our trip at church...a very welcoming ward.  Then the Mortensen's drove off in one direction and we went the other way.  The end of a wonderful, memorable trip.  I love my family.
