Summer Garden 2026

My garden was planted piecemeal this year.  First the onions and potatoes that I brought home from Utah

I also started my tomato plant.  This year I tried

A couple of weeks later, I planted some more potatoes that I sprouted from a local grocery store.  A added cucumbers behind the onions and some marigolds.

After the boysenberries finished and I was able to cut them back and place the new growth on the trellis, I found some pumpkin plants and put them in front of the berries

Finally, I finished harvesting the sweet pea seeds, so I pulled them out and planted my green beans.

Glen Ivy

When Mom was alive, she always gave me gift cards to Glen Ivy for my birthday and Christmas.  It would take a couple of years, but I would eventually have enough to share with Amy.  Amy and Todd have picked the idea up, and given me some gift cards as well.  Today they got used.

It

was a perfect day at Glen Ivy. I loved spending the day resting, relaxing, and recharging. The best, however was spending the day with AmyπŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Sophie's High School Graduation

This was the first Utah graduation that I was able to make!  Tayson's was during COVID, Luke and Claire both shared the date and time with the kids down here and it was decided that I should go to theirs.  The Johnson kids have tons of family to help them celebrate, but the Mortensen's only have me!

Anyway, it was awesome to be there to help Sophie celebrate.  I'm so proud of this young lady.

A Week in Utah

Todd and Kathy had a work trip the week before Sophie's graduation, so I went up to be with her.  I didn't see her much with all of her senior activities, but I guess it helped just knowing that I was in the house.  I had several beautiful walks along the river trail, was amazed that there was still snow on the tops of the mountains, visited the Orem temple, and attended a community production of the Wizard of Oz with Claire.  It was really entertaining, very well done.

Happy Birthday Todd

Happy birthday to the best son-in-law and woman could ask for.  He is perfect for Amy, always with a smile on his face and a kind word shared.  I don't understand his choice of birthday cakes, though?!  Really?

Flowers From the Garden

I brought some of my flower garden into the house and boy did it smell good.  All three kinds of flowers and known for beautiful fragrances...double delight roses, gardenias, and sweet peas.  My house smells heavenly.

Happy Mother's Day

This was quite a busy weekend in Utah...Sophie's dance, Todd's birthday, and Mother's Day! It was so nice to go out to breakfast with both Amy and Todd to one of my favorite places...Magleby's Fresh.  The maple bacon is to die for. Thank you for making me a mom, my favorite job ever. You made it so easy. I love you guys bunchesπŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

Happy Birthday Todd

I can't believe Todd turned 50!  We tried to get him to have a party, but he wasn't having any of that...so it was a quiet family celebration. Happy Birthday

Ballroom Dance Concert

I have watched Sophie dance jazz/hip hop lots of times, but I rarely get to see her dance ballroom.  Our Utah trip happened to fall on her final dance concert at Provo High and I was so excited to watch her dance.  She was spectacular.  Her smile lights up the stage, and she is so graceful in everything she performs.  It was so fun to be there, hears all the screams for her, and see how much she is loved by her family and friends.

Happy Birthday Claire

Because Claire isn't living at home, birthday pancakes didn't happen this year...but her annual trip to Barnes and Noble was a success.  As well as dinner out with the family.  Happy birthday Clair bear.

Tayson's Graduation

Tayson graduated from UVU this week, but because he's is going on to dental school, he decided not to walk.  He did, however, borrow a cap and gown and got some pictures...yay!!

Todd's Week

Todd came down for a week to help with my lawn.  He worked a lot, so the only "fun" thing we got to do was a Dodger game.  And of course, reseeding my lawn.

I love having him here.

Lawn Reseed

Todd did a great job of reseeding my lawn.  I think it was more work that he expected, but it turned out great.
